What an amazing day we had at Newby Hall & Gardens.
It’s somewhere I remember going as a child so was excited to take my little one. It is the perfect place to head in this sunny weather. We used our BBC Gardeners’ World Magazine 2for1 card and under 4’s are free.
We started off with a picnic in their picnic area (11am is an acceptable lunchtime when you’ve been up since 5am right?). Inside we wandered around the stunning gardens then spotted the water play area. The kids had such fun there.
After we’d dried off we went to the cafe and sat outside with some drinks and freshly made scones, yum! We then went to explore the Bear’s House, which had an array of teddy bears. Next we went to the playground. There’s yellow boat swings that I remember going on over 20 years ago, a sandpit, climbing frames, rope swings and boats on the water.
Finally after a quick ice-cream stop, we went on the miniature steam railway. There was an extra charge of £2.50 per person for this but it was lovely.
We headed home at 4pm and hadn’t even had chance to explore the Alice and Wonderland trail on the Woodland walk.
This really is a great place for all the family. There’s something to keep all ages happy. Plus it is massive so never felt too busy.
